Propel Healthtech West Yorkshire
Propel Healthtech West Yorkshire, delivered in partnership with West Yorkshire Combined Authority is Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber’s flagship accelerator programme, designed to support innovative SMEs developing solutions that improve health and care.
Through a structured six-month programme of expert support, mentorship and networking opportunities, Propel helps innovators navigate the complexities of the NHS, accelerate business growth and increase their market presence on both the Start Up and Scale Up programmes.
Open to both UK and international organisations, Propel Healthtech West Yorkshire welcomes SMEs with innovative health and patient-focused solutions that either have an existing presence in Yorkshire and the Humber or are willing to establish one.
Delivered in collaboration with 24 partner organisations and a wide range of stakeholders across the West Yorkshire innovation ecosystem, Propel provides innovators with access to the expertise, networks and support needed to successfully develop, scale and adopt their solutions within the NHS and wider health economy.

Designed for early-stage innovators, the Propel Healthtech West Yorkshire Start-Up programme provides the foundations needed to successfully develop, test and grow health innovations.

The programme is built around five key pillars that are critical to success within the health and care sector:
The NHS:
- Develop an understanding of the NHS landscape, organisational structures, national and local priorities, stakeholder engagement and routes to adoption.
Legal:
- Explore key legal considerations including company formation, employment, data protection, patient confidentiality, intellectual property and medical device regulations.
Finance and Funding:
- Learn about NHS funding flows, procurement processes, grant opportunities, investment readiness, pitching and access to investor networks.
Networking:
- Build connections across the health innovation ecosystem, access mentoring support and explore opportunities for collaboration with partners and fellow innovators.
Growth and Adoption:
- Understand governance requirements, clinical safety, evidence generation, accessibility, sustainability and the journey from pilot projects to large-scale adoption.
